Shearing your blend to make it look like your dog chewed it. Okay, bad description, but it will give your blend an "edge". Hahaha get it? Lame jokes over.

What you need:
1) 1 finished blend
2) a black scratch background like this.
3) Set the Selection "Feather" to 0px or else it'll be a blur.

1) Take your finished blend & place it in the center of the black scratchy background. View
2) Take the lasso tool and randomly (the key here is random, the more crazy it is the better!) select the edges like you are shearing them. View
3) Delete the selected parts. View
4) Doesn't look that cool yet? Shear it some more.View
5) Delete selected parts. View
6) Select the middle of your blend using the same "shearing" technique.
7) Copy selected area.
8) Move the copied layer a bit lower. View
9) Deaturate the original blend, leaving the colored layer in color.
